How to fix Oculus DK 2 stuck in Set Your View in VR

If you're still waiting on your Consumer Oculus Rift, you're probably playing with all the new apps and games with your DK2. However, Oculus does not officially support the DK2 within Oculus home, but it does still work nevertheless.

There are a few problems you run into, one of which is the message shown above stating you must Set Your View in VR or Continue in your headset. The problem is the DK2 does not have the consumer sensor so this message never goes away. Closing and restarting will continue to present you with the Set Your View in VR message. All is not lost; the following method will restore Oculus Home and retain all your settings, purchases and downloads:

  1. Exit all Oculus applications
  2. Use task manager to end the two ovrserver processes
  3. Go to the folder C:\Users\[YourUserName]\AppData\Roaming\Oculus\sessions
  4. Rename _oaf to _oaf.bak
  5. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Oculus\Support\oculus-runtime
  6. Run OVRServer_x64.exe and minimise it
  7. Go to the start menu and run Oculus
  8. Sign in again (don't create a new account)
  9. Skip the setup again
  10. The problem is fixed, and you can run games and apps again, your games and settings are all still there
