Oculus Rift CV1 Recommended Hardware

Oculus Rift CV1 Minimum Recommended Hardware

Back in February I speculated what the recommended hardware would be for the Oculus Rift consumer version (CV1)
Now that Oculus have released their official
recommended hardware I am glad to say I pretty much called it! If you purchased my recommended machine or specification then you're covered. The only difference between my forecast and the recommended is the GTX 970 over my recommended GTX 980. Personally I would still go for the GTX 980. However here is the official recommended hardware for CV1:

  • NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD 290 equivalent or greater
  • Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater
  • 8GB+ RAM
  • Compatible HDMI 1.3 video output
  • 2x USB 3.0 ports
  • Windows 7 SP1 or newer
You should be able to buy or build this machine for around $1,000 or less. So if you're starting from scratch for Oculus Rift CV1 you're probably looking at around $2,000 total investment, hopefully less once final pricing for CV1 is released.
