Sony's Project Morpheus Officially Named PlayStation VR

At the company’s Tokyo Game Show press conference Tuesday, Sony’s Atsushi Morita announced that the VR headset known as Project Morpheus will receive its official name of PlayStation VR.

Did Sony announce an official hardware specification or an release date or pricing? Nope.

I still have strong reservations about virtual reality on consoles. Both the PS4 and Xbox One have a demonstrably hard time hitting 1080p at 60 frames per second. PS4 seems to be able to hit it for more games than Xbox One.

Even at 1080p/60 for VR this is considered far lower than optimal. The Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive aim for at least 90 frames per second at 2160x1200 resolution. Otherwise you dive into nausea and increase the “screen door effect,” where you can spot the pixels making up the image.

However having tried several of the newly named PlayStation VR games they are surprisingly good given their lower specification compared to other devices.
Would I buy one? I'll be jumping on an Oculus and Vive for sure. PlayStation VR? we shall see...
