The new PASCAL-based cards from Nvidia rumors keep on coming. Last week we had a leaked picture of the GTX 1080
. This week we have strong rumors of the official announcement and confirmation of the cards specification. This is what we know so far:
The two SKUs ready for the launch are expected to be the 1080 8GB GDDR5X and GTX 1070 8GB GDDR5.
- Rumors are there will be an Editor’s only Event on May 6th will full dissemination of the card specifications. Nvidia has at least two SKUs ready.
- Reviews are expected to go live within a few weeks after that (Mid-May)
- The cards will have a hard launch at Computex 2016 with market Availability in June
|Maxwell||Maxwell GPU SKU||Pascal GPU SKU||Board||Date|
|Nvidia Geforce GTX 980Ti||GM200-310-A1||GP104-400-A1||Reference and AIB||Early June|
|Nvidia Geforce GTX 980||GM200-400-A1||GP104-200-A1||Reference and AIB||Early June|
|Nvidia Geforce GTX 970||GM200-200-A1||GP104-150-A1||AIB Only||Mid June|
Assuming the card is set to replace the current 980 then we can expect prices around $550. If however it is scheduled to replace the 980Ti, then prices could be $650 or higher. I hope the card will replace the 980, and a 1080Ti will come later.
Those of you still waiting for your delayed Rift this timing may work out well if you've also been holding out on a new video card.
