During Oculus Connect 2 in Los Angeles, Nate Mitchell announced the consumer version of the SDK will be available in December 2015. Earlier this year Oculus announced an actual date for the 0.7 SDK which was missed by a week. Oculus have correctly gone with a month goal instead. What will the 1.0 SDK update bring?
- Anything written against the 1.0 SDK will run against the shipping version of the Oculus Rift CV1 in Q1 2016
- Oculus SDK 1.0 will be compatible with future versions of the SDK
- Will NOT include any support for Oculus Touch. There will be a separate SDK for Oculus Touch. Note there is no date for the Oculus Touch SDK at this time
If version 1.0 SDK is December. I suspect we will not receive many more major updates to the existing 0.7 update. Perhaps one more at most so 0.7 or 0.8 will probably be the last.
