It is official folks. 4K resolution Smartphones have long been discussed but now a manufacturer has released something official.
Surprisingly Sony has beaten all the traditional big phone players to market such as Samsung, LG & Apple with the release of the worlds first 4K resolution Smartphone, the Xperia Z5 Premium.
The Xperia Z5 Premium sports a gorgeous looking screen measuring 5.5 inches with 4K resolution measuring 3840x2160 resulting in a whopping 806 PPI (Pixels per inch)
Tech readers are well aware that where one goes others will follow. Samsung is not going to take this laying down and is likely to release something to compete with the Xperia Z5 soon. However with the recent Samsung Note 5 not upping the resolution of the Note 4 by sticking with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 what is next for Samsung? Samsung are rather famous for releasing numerous devices so anything is possible.
Now if you recall our recent article quoting Oculus CTO John Carmack stating to wait until Oculus Connect 2 before you purchase your next VR mobile device? Perhaps he may be talking about the first mobile 4K VR device?
To speculate even further. Perhaps the Oculus Rift CV1 may up the ante and go with something beyond the current xxx resolution? After all Oculus have never released an official CV1 hardware specification.
