The Void Becomes a Reality Summer 2016

Remember the void in the news this time last year? The Void aims to bring us the closest to a Holo Deck that we're likely to experience in our lifetimes. So yeah, it could be that cool!

Fast forward to the present and The Void have teamed up with Sony Pictures to create a "Ghostbusters" experience that will open to the public this July at Madame Tussauds New York.

Who wouldn’t want to answer the call, suit up as a Ghostbuster, and blast their way through a ghost-infested New York apartment with a proton pack?

Said Jake Zim, senior VP of digital marketing at Sony Pictures.

Ken Bretshcneider, CEO at THE VOID added his enthusiasm saying:

We’re thrilled to have Sony Pictures on board as our first studio collaboration, working with us to develop a truly memorable experience that will have fans talking for years to come.

The void achieves this by the player wearing a body suit to simulate impacts in the VR world.

The room the player runs around exactly mirrors the dimensions in the virtual world. Then The Void overlays whatever it wants onto the real world structures.
What does this mean? A regular wooden wall can turn into a Sci-Fi wall on the Starship Enterprise. If you run into the wall, you run into the wall in real life too. Pretty great stuff.

The void released an all too brief video of the "Ghostbusters" experience:
