r>Virtual Reality fans attempting to get their hands on an Oculus Rift are having a tough time. After their pre-orders had been delayed up to two months, some fans had their hopes pinned on ordering from retail at Amazon or Best Buy.
Best Buy ended up being an event like Black Friday. However, Amazon orders were all online, and if you managed to get your order in within a few minutus, then things were looking up. Or were they?
A few customers had been notified their Rift would ship on Tuesday, yet their order has yet to ship. Many orders still show the following listed under their status:
Not yet shipped
Delivery estimate: We need a little more time to provide you with a good estimate. We'll notify you via e-mail as soon as we have an estimated delivery date.
In contacting Amazon they had this to say about the expected ship date:
The item hasn't shipped yet due that items is is out of stock, we are working as soon as we can in order to get it back in stock. According to the system we expect to have it back in stock by the end of the month.
So there you have it. There is just no easy way to get your Rift any sooner. Unless of course you're willing to shell out over $1,100 for a Rift on eBay.
