A few days ago I reviewed the TPCast wireless HDMI device specifically for the HTC Vive which we tried during CES 2017. However, for Rift owners out there, what options do you have? Scalable Graphics are working on a product called KwikVR aimed at wireless HDMI solutions for both the Vive and the Rift. During CES I had a chance to try out their prototype unit.
Is Wireless KwikVR as good as wired HDMI?
This device is a prototype and not the final product. However, unlike the TPCast device I tried, the KwikVR did have a noticeable lag when I turned my head quickly. Personally, I would prefer to stay wired if this were the case. The final version is said to have no more than 12ms lag, which may not be perceivable. We will need to try the final product to determine if the delay is workable or not. We will not have too much time to wait. Kwik VR will be available in March 2017 for $300.
