Oculus have already revealed their recommended PC specification, essentially an Intel i5-4590, GTX 970 and 8GB Memory.
Now the makers of Elite Dangerous, Frontier Developments have revealed the recommended specification for their VR support of Elite Dangerous. Frontier Developments have already officially halted new development of the Oculus Rift DK2 until Oculus release their 1.0 release. In the meantime Frontier are supporting the upcoming HTC Vive which as we know is now April 2016.
The official Elite Dangerous VR Specification:
- OS: Windows 7/8/10 64 bit
- CPU: Intel Core i7-3770K Quad Core CPU or better / AMD FX 4350 Quad Core CPU or better
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- GPU: Nvidia GTX 980 with 4GB or better
- Hard Drive: 8 GB available space
Comparing this with Oculus minimum they are not that different. The GPU is one level up with the 980 vs. the 970. Interestingly this is the first game (I have seen) that requires 16 GB of memory.
