Many people ask me how to go about watching 360-degree YouTube video's on their Rift or Vive. I have two favorite methods and I'll cover both here.

Watching YouTube 360-Degree Videos with DeoVR Player

DeoVR Player is my favorite video player for the Rift and Vive. I've featured it several times before in previous articles.

Watching YouTube 360-Degree VR videos is easy with DeoVR. The simplest method is:

  1. Browse YouTube for the video you'd like to watch.
You can filter to show only the 360-videos by browsing the YouTube Virtual Reality channel.

  2. For the video you'd like to watch, click on share and copy the link. It will look something like this:

  3. Put on your Rift or Vive headset, look at the second from the left icon and with your controller select the icon. The video will then start to play.

Watching YouTube 360-Degree Videos with Virtual Desktop

The virtual desktop is another one of my favorite VR apps. Virtual Desktop lets you explore the entire Windows interface in glorious VR. However, to watch 360-Degree videos, follow steps 1 & 2 above. Then click on the VIDEOS option in the Virtual Desktop. The video will then start to download and play.
