With most people who want a VR headset, now in possession of one. We are in dire need of new and exciting content to play on the new hardware. Back in June 2015, developer nDreams were hard at work on a VR adventure game titled The Assembly. Fast forward to today and nDreams are ready to deliver their baby into the world. The Assembly will launch on the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive on July 19, 2016, with PlayStationVR arriving later in the year.
The Assembly, a mysterious organisation hidden from the world, has been experimenting outside the constraints of government scrutiny and society’s morals. But what secrets is it hiding? What will it sacrifice in the name of progress? In the Assembly, you play as recruit Madeleine Stone and veteran Cal Pearson as they both gradually uncover the truth about the Assembly. During the game, you’ll play through chapters as each character gaining their unique perspectives.
As a chain of events threatens to expose the Assembly, two individuals – each with their own perspectives and motivations – are offered a chance to shape the future. For better or worse, the impossible choices they face will transform not just their own lives, but that of whole nations.
The Assembly is an immersive, interactive story in VR where there are two sides to everything. An experience where perspectives shift, the right choice is never clear, and a question is always left open: When does the end justify the means?
The game is played from a first-person perspective; therefore, I'll be curious to see if here are any nausea issues. The team has spent a great time of time making the game look great, and it certainly seems to have worked, it looks great.
