Microsoft is planning to unveil its Xbox Project Scorpio specifications during an "exclusive Xbox Scorpio reveal" on Thursday at 9 AM ET.

In a recent report from Windows Central, the reveal will include full details of the hardware and confirmation if Xbox will use the latest Ryzen CPU technology from AMD.

Xbox Project Scorpio console is said to be able to run Forza Motorsport 7 at 4K.

Xbox Project Scorpio Hardware Specifications

Microsoft has previously revealed that Project Scorpio will run at 6 teraflops. Microsoft plans to replace its 8GB of DDR3 RAM / 32MB of ESRAM with 12GB of GDDR5 memory on Project Scorpio.

Xbox Project Scorpio compares very favorably indeed to the new PlayStation 4 Pro with 6 teraflops vs. the PS4 Pro of 4.2 teraflops of GPU power.

Will Xbox Project Scorpio support the Oculus Rift?

Oculus and Xbox have always had a marriage of sorts. The Oculus Rift shipped with an Xbox controller from Day 1. You can currently play Xbox games on a giant video screen on the Rift today via the Xbox one streaming option.

The next evolution of Xbox would be to support the Oculus Rift in response to the PSVR from Sony and their PS4 and PS4 Pro. The Project Scorpio hardware will certainly be able to run the Oculus Rift.
